The Colleton Probate Court holds has jurisdiction over various legal matters.
These include: the issuance of marriage licenses, the administration of estates belonging to deceased individuals, guardianships for incapacitated adults, conservatorships managing the assets of minors and incapacitated persons, settlements involving minors amounting to $25,000 or less, and the involuntary commitment of individuals suffering from mental illness and/or chemical dependency.
