The U.S. Court of Appeals 4th Circuit is among the twelve regional appellate courts in the federal judicial system. It handles appeals originating from the nine federal district courts located in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, as well as appeals from federal administrative agencies.
